List of Break Out Players to Watch Out For!

1. Dillon Betances- This is my number one player to look out for this up coming season. If you are a Yankee fan than you are sitting on gold. If you are a fantasy baseball owner I would strongly suggest drafting him as your number one closer. Last year this guy broke quite a few of Mariano Rivera's rookie records, which means something. He pitched in 70 games, finishing with a 5-0 record, 135 strikeouts in 90 innings pitched. This guy is a monster at 6'8, 260 pounds that is going to get a shot at the closer role, and I don't expect him to disappoint.

2. Avisail Garcia- He has been a back up three years he has been in the league, but will get that chance to start in right field for the White Sox. This is a big, strong 23 year old man from Venezuela  measuring in at 6'4, and 240 pounds. In his limited action he has shown that he can hit for power, and for average. The problem he has is he strikeouts out a bit to much, but that will change once he starts seeing at bats every single day.

3. Yordano Ventura- This probably doesn't come as a surprise to most people, and this young fireballer had one heck of a rookie year for the Royals. The reason I really like Ventura is how in control of his wide-up and delivery he is for every pitch he makes. He has the best balance I have seen from a guy that uses so much torch in his pitches. He finished last year at 14-10, with a 3.20 ERA, 159 strike outs in 183 innings pitched. The wins might not increase as he is taking over the number one spot in that rotation, but every other stat with increase.

4. Drew Smyly- Played for the Tigers until the trade deaden last year, where he was moved to the Tampa Bay Rays. In Detroit he never got the chance to be a full time starter due to their strong rotation these past couple of years. When he was moved to the Rays he dominated in 7 starts with a 3-1 record, 1.70 ERA, 44 strike outs in 47.2 innings. Like I said, he was killing it once he was traded. He finished last year with a 9-10 record, 3.24 ERA, 133 strike outs in 153 innings pitched. Now that he will get the chance to be a full time starter in Tampa, you might see this guy break out with a big year.

5. Mike Zunino- Last season was Zunino first full season in the big leagues, and there were things to like, and things not to like. First, he is a good blocking defensive catcher, but he is not very good at throwing runners out. The guy mashed 22 home runs, 60 RBI's, but had a .198 average and .254 on base percentage. It doesn't take a baseball expert to tell you that this guy has some serious potential. If you can't bring that average up to around the .250 range, while hitting 20 plus home runs, and play good defense he will be just fine.
