What Going Around the League

There have been plenty of small moves going on around the league that you may not have been aware of. I have waited until there was enough people to talk about, because I don't want to bore you on people you may not care to know where they have gone. I will start with the Braves, because they have made two signings that will impact their team. The Braves have a weak outfield, and are going to have some new, young faces up on the team this year. I think the signing of Jonny Gomes was an important piece for the outfield, and leadership. No matter where Gomes seems to go he brings a positive attitude, and a fun personality that everyone seems to connect with. He is also a playoff machine of the last couple of years for whatever team he seems to sign with or get traded to. They other signing was veteran starter Eric Stults. He has been very durable the last two seasons pitching in a combined 65 games. This is something the Braves need for they lose starters every season it seems like. Stults won't blow you away, but he has a good off speed. He brings much needed depth to the Braves starting rotation.

The Rockies do what they can this off season with signing pitchers. They really have a hard time getting anyone to come to Colorado, but I think they got a decent signing in Kyle Kendricks. They guy has started 30 or more games 6 out of the 8 years he has been in the league. He has been a solid 4 to 5 guy in the Phillies rotation for 8 seasons. He doesn't get strikeouts, but can get you to hit the ball in play, and get outs. He isn't the greatest pitcher in the world, but he is better than nothing for the Rockies. The other signing the Rockies made I am not sure about. They signed former closer John Axford, who at one point was a top closer. In seasons 2010-2012 Axford saved 105 games for the Brewers. Since then he has been struggling to find what he once had, and has been bouncing around team to team. I am concerned for this pick because he has struggled with his command, and the Stadium in Colorado is not forgiving.
