A New Life

Big Dan Uggla is given another life as the Washington Nationals have signed the former All-Star second basemen to a minor league contract. I think it is a low risk move made by the Nationals, they need to find a cheaper replacement for Asdrubal Cabrera, who they have lost to free agency. Dan Uggla is a three time All-Star who has hit 30 plus home runs five times in his career.

His best season was in 2010 when he hit .287 average, 33 home runs, and l05 RBI's for the Miami Marlins. I miss the days of Dan Uggla hitting bombs over the big teal monster in the old Marlins stadium. Unfortunately, the last three years have been a miserable for Uggla. You would be happy to get a .250 average out of Uggla with the way he is playing.

The power is still there for Uggla he just needs to figure out how to get that average up. He always can field his position, but you can bet he won't get a Gold Glove. He is a project no doubt, but the upside he could bring to the line up is worth the risk.
