The Orioles have avoided arbitration with 28 year old Tommy Hunter signing him for a 1 year deal worth 4.65 million dollars. Last season Hunter was an important part of the Orioles bullpen with a 3-2 record, 11 saves, 2.97 era, 45 strikeouts, walking 12 people in 60.2 innings. Hunter will more than likely be the set up guy, and next person in line to be the closer.
The Braves have landed veteran left handed pitcher Wandy Rodriguez, and signed him to a minor league deal worth 2 million dollars. The 35 year old will get an invite to spring training. Wandy is coming off a down three year span with the Pirates and had a couple injuries. When Wandy was with the Astros he was dominate, and had a promising career if he went to a contender. He has a career 91-94 record, with a 4.06 era, with 1,209 strike outs in 1471 innings pitched. I think the Braves are thinking he is worth the gamble, and he probably is worth a minor league contract.
