The Padres make one more trade before the season started and it was for closer Craig Kimbrel, the former closer of the Atlanta Braves. This is a huge deal for the Padres, because their only weak spot on their team, besides lack of chemistry, was in the bullpen. Padres lose their number one pitching prospect, which is okay because of there depth in pitching. Other than the number one prospect the Padres didn't give anything up that they couldn't afford to get rid of. Maybin and Quentin were going to ride the bench this year with the new look outfield in San Diego. So now, the Padres add debatably the best closer in baseball and make themselves the front runner in that division. The one bad thing about the trade was Melvin Upton, who is the brother of newly acquired Justin Upton. Melvin Upton has struggled over the past three years, and doesn't bring much to the team. He is currently hurt, but when he comes back it could be difficult to find room for him on the roster. For the Braves, they are able to get rid of the rest of their big contracts, and can focus on rebuilding the team from scratch.
