The Cubs Land Their Outfielder

The Cubs got the outfielder they needed, and that is Dexter Fowler. They traded Luis Valbuena, and Dan Straily. This is a good move for the Cubs, Fowler brings speed, contact, switch hitter, he is a very good outfielder, and a little bit of power from the lead off spot. I expected the Cubs to make a smaller move to strengthen their outfield. Fowler finished last season with a .276 average, 8 home runs, 35 RBI's, with a .375 OBP.

The Astros receive utility infielder Luis Valbuena, and starter Dan Straily. Valbuena has showed some power the last two seasons. He does not hit for average for he has a career .229 average. He will be used as a utility infielder, giving people a rest, and a bat off the bench. Dan Straily has had one good year in 2013 when he finished with a 10-8 record with a 3.96 ERA in 27 starts. Last year he was a none factor, and was traded to the Cubs. The Cubs flip him back to the Astros to see what they can do with him. The only thing I can say about Straily is he is young, and in 2013 showed potential to be a 4 or 5 starter in the major leagues.
