The Cubs have started 5-3 and are tied in first place with the Cardinals. Today is the day that they most hyped prospect in a long time will make his major league debut Kris Bryant. The Cubs have had a decent start, but haven't excelled in anything. They haven't had the best defensive, and I am not impressed with their bullpen. The young guys have come through for them early, but how far can they take them, and how much of a difference can the rookie Kris Bryant make this season. To many questions for me, which is why the Cubs won't be in the race at the end of the season.
The Mets have looked great in their first 10 games going 7-3. Their ace Matt Harvey has come back looking better than ever. The Mets have looked good offensively to start the year. The problem with the Mets the last couple of years is injuries, which has already begun. Young fire ballers Zach Wheeler, and Bobby Parnell where hurt to start the year, and now Captain America David Wright went down with a hamstring injury. Mejia, the Mets closer to begin the year got hurt, and now has been hit with an 80 game suspension for taking an illegal substance. This is why the Mets will never last, and the Nationals bats will wake up eventually. The Nationals pitching has looked dominate to start the year, they just ned the bats to heat up.
Really nothing to talk about in the American League West. It is a cluster of teams fighting to stay above .500 and make the playoffs. Everyone in that division has shown their bright spots, but have shown the bad things to go a long with. It's an ugly start for the division, but it will pick up soon.
The most entertaining start to the year goes to the American League Central. The Tigers have been dominate with that starting rotation, even without former ace Justin Verlander. Everyone who they made moves for over the offseason has played very well, including Anthony Gose, J.D. Martinez, and Alfredo Simon. Cespedes has been productive at the plate, but hasn't driven very many runs. The Royals hot start is no surprise to me, as I have them finishing in first place of this division. They have the best bullpen in baseball for the second straight year, and so much talent. They have the second best defense in baseball in my eyes, and have tons of speed. They lack power, but I think power is overrated. Look at the St. Louis Cardinals, they haven't had power since Albert Pujols, and they have made the playoffs every year since he left.
Finally, the American League East, probably the hardest division for anyone to predict coming into the season. The Boston Red Sox have proven their moves over the offseason have made them a contender again, as they lead the division. They will have the best hitting in this division all season, but will the pitching rotation, and bullpen be able to keep up. I don't believe so, but it is a long season. The Orioles have had a slow start, but that is due to rust. The main bats on this team will heat up and play a huge role for this team, the question is will they have the starting rotation to hang with this division.
